Content is king - This formula still applies. In the multi-channel media world, the successful positioning of a channel or a programme depends more than ever on the specific measures taken in the fields of design, promotion and brand communication. For this reason, increasing media designers’ and marketers’ awareness of their products and their creation processes is one of the most important goals of Eyes & Ears of Europe, the European Association for the Design, Promotion and Marketing of Audiovisual Media. The Eyes & Ears Awards aim to promote debate on quality standards for media design, programme promotion and audiovisual brand communication in the context of cross-media and internationalisation.

Therefore, Eyes & Ears of Europe will present the fourth annual International Eyes & Ears Awards in the context of the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN.

Prizes will be awarded in the categories TV Design, Audio Design & Composition, Station on the Internet and Promotion/Advertising/Image. The three best results from each of the 20 different sub-categories will be presented during the event. The best production in each category receives the Eyes & Ears Award. In addition, the most convincing entries from the points of view of "Innovation" and "Effectiveness" will be honoured with special prizes, to be awarded this year for the third time.

The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Eyes & Ears Excellence Award 2002. In previous years, this eagerly sought-after prize for outstanding contributions to the design of audiovisual communication has been awarded to actor, narrator and presenter Sky Du Mont (2001), to British TV designer Martin Lambie-Nairn (2000), to film director Roman Kuhn (1999) and to Italian photographer and creative director Oliviero Toscani (1998).

Partners of the Eyes & Ears Awards 2002 are ProSieben, PREMIERE, Biz.Quit, RTL CREATION, CBC Cologne Broadcasting Center, Universal Studios Networks, frame eleven, ORF, BBDO InterOne, Giesing-Team Tonproduktion, QS Communications, Avid, DVB Multimedia Bayern GmbH and the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN.
