In todays multi-channel environment, the successful positioning of a programme or a content, of a station or a provider depends more than ever on the specific measures taken in the fields of design, promotion and brand communication. To encourage awareness in media designers and marketers of their products and their creation processes is one of the most important goals of Eyes & Ears of Europe, the European Association for the Design, Promotion and Marketing of Audiovisual Media. We need to promote the discussion of quality standards for media design, promotion and audiovisual brand communication in the context of crossmediality and internationalisation.
The Eyes & Ears Awards are intended as a contribution towards opening up new horizons in media design and ensuring innovative, effective and imaginative marketing measures in media companies` self-advertising.
Therefore, Eyes & Ears of Europe will be presenting the Eyes & Ears Awards for the years best achievements in the ceremonial context of the MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN on 23 October 2003, for the fifth time. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
TV/Film Design Audio Design & Composition Media Companies on the internet Promotion/Advertising/Image
Awards will be made to outstanding contributions in 23 different categories of media design, promotion and brand communication in the audiovisual media. The three best results from each category will be presented during the Munich event. The best production in each category will be given an Eyes & Ears Award. In addition, the most impressive entries from the point of view of "Innovation" and "Effectiveness" will be honoured with special prizes, to be awarded this year for the fourth time.
The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Eyes & Ears Excellence Award 2003. This eagerly sought-after prize for outstanding contributions to the design of audiovisual communication has so far been awarded to the author, director and advertising specialist Hermann Vaske (2002), to the actor, station voice and presenter Sky Du Mont (2001), to the British TV designer Martin Lambie-Nairn (2000) and to film director Roman Kuhn (1999). In 1998 it went to the Italian photographer and creative director Oliviero Toscani.
