Eyes & Ears Awards 2004 - INNOVATION & EFFECTIVENESS |

In today's multi-channel media environment, the successful positioning of a programme or content, of a station or provider depends more than ever on the specific measures taken in the fields of design, promotion and brand communication. To encourage quality awareness in media designers and marketers of their creation processes and their products is one of the most important goals of Eyes & Ears of Europe. The European Association for the Design, Promotion and Marketing of Audiovisual Media, Eyes & Ears of Europe, actively promotes the discussion of quality standards for media design, promotion and audiovisual brand communication in the context of crossmediality and internationalisation.
Therefore, Eyes & Ears of Europe will present the International Eyes & Ears Awards for the 6th time at MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN. Outstanding contributions and productions of the past twelve months will be awarded in the 25 categories of media design, promotion and brand communication in the audiovisual media under the criteria of INNOVATION & EFFECTIVENESS.
In total, 173 companies from ten countries were involved in the 336 entries. Productions from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Greece, Great Britain, Australia, Austria, Switzerland and Germany were submitted. Five juries of Eyes & Ears of Europe's working groups in London, Hilversum, Strasbourg and Vienna selected 69 finalists and 25 award winners.
During the event on 21 October, the three best productions from each of the 23 categories in the fields of 'TV/Film Design', 'Audio Design & Composition', 'Media Companies on the Internet' and 'Promotion/Advertising/Image' will be presented in a ceremonial context. The best production in each category will be honoured with the Eyes & Ears Award 2004. In addition, for the fifth time, the two Eyes & Ears special prizes for INNOVATION & EFFECTIVENESS respectively will be presented for the most convincing entries from these points of view in the context of MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN.
The highlight of the event will again be the presentation of the Eyes & Ears Excellence Award. This eagerly sought-after prize for outstanding contributions to the design of audiovisual communication has so far been awarded to the British production designer and Oscar winner Peter Lamont (2003), the author, director and advertising specialist Hermann Vaske (2002), to the actor, station voice and presenter Sky Du Mont (2001), to the British branding specialist and TV designer Martin Lambie-Nairn (2000), the film director Roman Kuhn (1999), and the Italian photographer and creative director Oliviero Toscani (1998).
