"It's a Fan Thing" - SYFY with a new look

Since the beginning of September SYFY, the broadcaster around science fiction, has been appearing in Germany with a completely new look. In the USA, NBC Universal International Networks launched its new brand with the new corporate identity in June. This new look is characterised by its handling of bold typography and the slogan "SYFY - It's a Fan Thing".

With the new brand identity, the channel will focus even more strongly on the genre of science fiction, superheroes, fantasy and zombies as well as the large fan community. The relaunch includes a completely new look for all linear, digital and social platforms, including new logos and fonts.

"SYFY's new brand identity in Germany goes back to the station's roots as a home for everything related to science fiction", emphasizes Katharina Behrends, Managing Director of NBCUniversal International Networks Germany. "The new edition of SYFY demonstrates the innovative strategy of the station brand to connect with science fiction fans of all kinds in a new appearance. This is designed for the digital age and offers a universe that you can call your home in Germany and elsewhere," Behrends continues.

"Wir bleiben dran." n-tv with new brand design

Since the beginning of September, the news channel n-tv has had a new logo and the new brand claim "Wir bleiben dran" ("We're staying on").

The fact that n-tv has long been more than just television is now reflected in the new brand design and the new brand claim. The new logo was further developed from the smallest application area - the n-tv app - across all platforms and is intended to give n-tv a multimedia face. "During the development process, a modern, younger look with more radiance was important to us, which is simple, clear and memorable and brings about a noticeable change. At the same time, the recognition of existing users should be guaranteed", says n-tv Marketing Manager Cornelia Dienstbach.

The claim "n-tv - Wir bleiben dran." is based on an emotional brand promise: with commitment, dedication and courage, n-tv offers reliable quality in its reporting on a daily basis and makes world events accessible. "With the new claim we want to communicate an attitude to the outside world, which is a promise for the viewer and user. Breaking news always takes priority, you can rely on us."

The new brand design was developed and implemented in-house by the marketing department of the RTL media group. The agency Havas is responsible for the campaign.


"Press the right buttons"! SRF launches HbbTV campaign

For several months now, SRF1, SRF zwei and SRF info have been offering viewers of SRF1, SRF2 and SRF info a completely redesigned HbbTV: on-demand, missed shows or live streams can be watched on TV in the living room. An optimised display of teletext content is also integrated. In order to attract attention, SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen has now produced a campaign.

In the first phase of the campaign, which has been on-air since 16 September, viewers will be informed with two commercials. The spots are used on SRF 1 and SRF 2. Under the guiding principle of "Pressing the right buttons," viewers are encouraged to press the red button on their remote control and try out the new HbbTV offer.

The commercials were implemented at SRF by the Design & Marketing team.

Exhibition tip: 'Seth Price - Social Synthetic'

From 21 October to 8 April 2018, the exhibitio 'Seth Price - Social Synthetics' can be seen at the Museum Brandhorst in Munich.

The Brandhorst Museum presents the first international general exhibition of the American artist Seth Price. The exhibition, which includes more than 150 works, shows sculptures, films, photographs, drawings, paintings, video, clothing and textiles, web design, music and poetry. Programmatically, Price penetrates territories beyond the fine arts by taking up and using the production and distribution forms of the music industry, the fashion world and the literary business. In doing so, he deals with the fundamental changes in visual culture that accompany the widespread establishment of digital media.
